Starting Your Baby on Solids
Baby Food
Baby food is anything your baby eats that other than the mother breast milk. Baby food is usually served to babies between the ages of 4 or 5 months up to about the age of 2 years. Baby food can come in many different blends and tastes; there are many companies who make readymade baby food. You can also feed your baby things that your family would normally eat so long as it has been blended well.As your baby starts to grow and get bigger their appetite will increase and mother’s milk will not be enough. Many mothers find that there babies like rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula. A parent always needs to be aware of choking hazards from whatever food their baby is eating. You need to be very carefully of foods like undercooked vegetable and any food that may contain bones. Some of the most popular baby foods are pureed vegetables and pureed fruits. The thing to remember is that we want the best for our baby and need to try and get the best organic food we can find.
It has been my experience that the best foods for your baby are nutritious delicious baby foods, usually organic and natural. As your baby ages, your baby will begin to grow teeth and is now able to eat soft pieces of food. Parents must remember that although teeth are coming in, the babies do not have molars to grind the food just yet, so it is usually wise for the mother to break or mash up the food into small pieces for the baby to eat. Starting around 6 to 7 months babies will start wanting to feed themselves. Generally, it is ok to give the child solid food when they are about 7 months of age.
